Towards the end of 2007 I was contracted to document the human impact of a Queensland government proposal to dam the Mary River at Traveston Crossing and consequently submerge the valley. Following the announcement a large percentage of homes were swiftly sold to the state government even though the plans were still subject to approval. The remaining community launched a dedicated and often colourful campaign to 'Save the Mary River'.
